Could you please advise me how to care for pampas grass?

Pampas grass grows best in full sunshine, in average, well-draining soil. Most folks like to leave the browned grass intact throughout the winter months to provide interest to the winter landscape. If you'd like to go that route, simply leave the grass alone until the spring when you see new growth appearing and then cut out all the browned grass. Otherwise, you can cut the foliage back in the autumn.

Thatch is a problem only when it becomes too thick. A layer of thatch 1/4 to 1/2 inch thick is beneficial to the lawn. It buffers soil temperatures and adds to the resilience of the lawn, thereby reducing the compaction of soil that can result from heavy use.
