Waxing and Polishing Furniture

In the same way that finishes are meant to protect and beautify wood, waxes and polishes are meant to protect and beautify finishes. Although neither wax nor polish offers a high degree of protection, wax is the better of the two; it's a little harder to apply but offers more protection and needs to be applied only about once a year. Polish offers a quick, easy way to liven up a relatively dull-looking finish. Don't use polishes that contain silicones, as they're incompatible with most finishes and will eventually harm them; instead, choose a good cream polish.
